Below you will find a list of just some of the trips that we tend to run each year. Club sign-ups are usually held during the week prior to the trip.

Most members would say that trips are the best way to really get to know other people in the club. We're a friendly bunch, so see you at the crag!

October – Fresher’s day Trips

Day trips to the Peak District. Many people’s first experience of real climbing, and a good intro to our local crags. These are the only day trips we run all year, so get on it! Some members get out climbing here whenever the weather is good, having learned to love the unique gritstone (“God’s own rock”).

Our only sport climbing trip in the UK. Bolt heaven, the Isle of Portland is surrounded by many limestone rock faces, and great views of the sea. This is a good opportunity to get a feel for what sport climbing is like before deciding whether to go on our trip to Spain. It is also Halloween weekend, so a chance for some fancy dress climbing!

Lake District

Before winter takes hold we’ll head north for a chance to experience some of the best of the Lakes; with many great multi-pitch adventures allowing us climbers to get high in the fells and see some great scenery. We’ll stay in a little village hall up in the hillside, allowing for stunning views both in the morning and at night!

Yorkshire grit! Some excellent bouldering as well as classic trad climbs to keep everyone in the club happy. We’ll head down on the Saturday morning and stay in a huge hut, with climbing games the order of the evening. Also a chance to break club cams for some, and not place any for others...

A trip to the western peaks. We will be travelling down on the Saturday morning as it's close and staying in a bunkhouse with a log fire. Again, this will present a healthly mix of bouldering and trad, with some amazing lines!

Exceptional welsh sea cliff climbing! Ask anyone who went last year, the climbing is truly brilliant!

Annual Dinner (North Wales or Lakes)

The highlight of the club calendar! The Annual Dinner unites members old and new for climbing, speeches, beers and a three-course meal. Discover the wealth of history our climbing family has to offer. And while we’re there we can tick off some of Snowdonia’s classic climbs (fingers crossed for no rain this year!).

Sometime in the Easter holidays – El Chorro trip

Our trip to Spain for a week of sport climbing. Great food, climbing and weather! Dates will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks and signups will be held before Christmas. You’ve probably already heard club members rave about this trip, it’s not to be missed!

Cornwall - June after exams

A week on the Cornish granite near Lands’ end after exams are finished. Another exceptionally popular trip, with BBQs, beaches, awesome coast lines and some great climbing to top it all off!

Summer Holidays - Fontainebleau trip

For a number of years, unofficial trips (which have nothing to do with the club) have run to Fontainebleau (or just "Font", if you're English), a beautiful forest located just south of Paris. Font is arguably the best bouldering venue in the world, so keep an ear out for any chat about it amongst club members.
