This Week In The Club - Annual Dinner

***THIS WEEK IN THE CLUB***

Thanks to everyone for filling in for me last week whilst I was away! Lots of news this week, so make sure you read it all!

SAVE THE DATE: our AGM will be held on Tuesday 9th April in LASS A4 at 7pm. We will be voting in our new committee and raising any club business such as changes to constitution. Please please come along, we need as many people as possible to weigh in and vote, plus there will be snacks and pizza, so it's a free dinner ;) If you are thinking about running for a committee position but are not sure about something, please feel free to drop us a message! There is no minimum experience required and every role can be shaped to suit your personal skills or plans, so take your chance to shape the next year of the club. https://www.facebook.com/events/336396120554719/

Tonight's sessions at DRSV:
Lead Climbing Basics (1/3) 18:30-20:30
We are still running top rope sessions on a REQUEST ONLY basis so if you'd like to take part in one make sure you message Danny Seeley so we can get one organised in the near future.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday) we have a pub quiz social at Sir John Borlase Warren. This will be our last social of the term so come along to enjoy hanging out in a less chalky environment! https://www.facebook.com/events/296713431023302/

Wednesday sessions at Depot will be running as normal:
15:00-17:00 Improvers with James Anderson
17:00-19:00 Advanced with Henry Todman
Keep an eye out for further posts from them or drop them a message if you have any questions.

This weekend is ANNUAL DINNER! If you've signed up to this trip keep an eye on the group for details or message Tiffany Tsang with any questions! We will be having 2 days of climbing, plus a formal dinner, a little slideshow from our incredible alumni who have been route setting out in La Cote d'Ivoire this winter, and a speech from the legendary sport climber Steve McClure! Looking forward to seeing you all there, and getting dressed up for a lovely evening with our alumni! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2132316060183514/

Next Wednesday (3rd April) we will be having an "Inter-Uni Bouldering Comp" at Nottingham Clibming Centre with Trent. This will be similar in style to the Varsity comp at Depot but also usually includes some silly competitions such as speed climbing, pull up contests, and very creative route setting (for example last year we had a handstand start and a Tarzan swing!). Always a fantastic event, and will include a scorecard raffle and a lot of free pizza! Keep an eye out for a post with the Facebook event and further details...

Next Frdiay (5th April) we will be doing a swap social with Yoga! Come along for a bit of stretchy relaxation and to meet some lovely new people!

Next term Mike (climbing wall manager) will be running some engage outdoor climbing sessions! These are open to anyone who wants to give outdoor climbing a go. They cost £10 and can be booked from any reception. There are 6 spaces on each day, running 15th and 22nd May, and 5th, 12th and 19th June. An excellent opportunity to get some grit climbing in and try something new!!

Enjoy your week and happy climbing!!

This Week In The Club - AGM, yoga and more

***THIS WEEK IN THE CLUB***

Busy busy week my loves so make sure you read all the way through!

Thanks to all for a fantastic weekend in Wales for Annual Dinner! Hope everyone has a great a weekend as I did, and is recovering today!

Tonight we have a lead progression course (2/3) running at DRSV 18:30-20:30, HOWEVER due to unforseen circumstances we seem to be short of volunteers! If you have been trained in the lead coaching by Mike, or would be happy to help out under someone else's supervision, please get in touch with Danny Seeley as soon as possible!

Wednesday is our INTER-UNI CLIMBING COMP at NCC. This will be similar to the depot varsity comp but we'll have different problems, different prizes, and more free pizza! Come along to have a fun afternoon with our NTU counterparts and help us retain our shiny golden trophy! https://www.facebook.com/events/624262461370370/

Friday is a busy busy day! There is a charity climb running at DRSV which we need both volunteers and participants for! If you can belay and don't mind giving up an hour or so to help a good cause please let me know before Thursday so I can get a list to Mike, and more importantly if you would like to help a great cause and have a fun day's climbing come along to DRSV and have a climb! We are trying to beat last year's total of around 9000m vertical ascent, so we need as many climbers as possible! Tell your friends, your flatmates, random strangers you meet in the street... All you have to do is give a donation on the door, (the climbing is free if you are a sport member, otherwise you will have to pay entry as usual), and climb as many routes as possible! If you want to get sponsorship per metre or per climb, that would also be a great idea! We are raising money for Mind (https://www.mind.org.uk/) and Hope for Children (https://www.hope-for-children.org/)

Then Friday evening, we have a swap social with UoN Yoga Society, organised by the lovely Megan Crothers. Come along for a fun and relaxing session to break up the end-of-term stress and meet a lovely new society! This was a lot of fun last year so it would be great to see as many of you as possible there again :)

Finally, reminder to everyone that it is our AGM next Tuesday (9th April) at 7pm in LASS A4. There will be lots of Pizza and lots of decisions to make including electing our lovely new committee! Please come along if you are free and have a say in the next year of the club :D

If you can't make it but want to run for a position you can skype in or send a manifesto with a friend to run for you. There are still a few positions which no-one has come forward to run for, and it is always more fun to have the positions contested, so if you think you would enjoy deciding how the club runs and making next year the best possible then have a look at the positions in the committee post from last month (linked below) and have a think about which position you could run for! https://www.facebook.com/groups/UoNClimbingClub/permalink/1078743925642061/
